  • Priest, censored and uncensored versions

  • I was curious as to how they were different so I’ve downloaded five different versions of it. Found four to be 97 minutes long and one to be slightly longer, about 102 minutes.

The first version I watched is the censored one I believe, as scenes in which homosexuality is brought up are cut short. Before I knew there were several version, I had a weird feeling because of some scenes, felt there wasn’t enough said, well turns out they were cut!

Anyway, the Italian, the Irish and the French versions are COMPLETELY different. I had downloaded the French version because it was said on the cover to be longer than the others, but it’s still 97 minutes long. But the first 15 minutes have just a few scenes in common with the censored version! I am baffled!

I need to watch the Italian and French versions fully.

  • so five years later i’ve watched the three versions

Italian version is the longest and still is missing a scene that is in the french and US version

French version has some scenes missing here and there compared to the Italian version but seems to be the most complete, with all the gay scenes

the US version is missing several whole scenes, especially gay ones (at least two, including one that completely changes the ending of the romance, which makes it a very sad ending, when it’s a pretty hopeful one in the end)

The sex scenes isn’t edited in the same way and it is a tiny bit longer in the US version than in the others??? but i guess since their love story ends badly in the movie, the distribution company didn’t mind (honestly, if i was the director, i would have respected their wishes like “yeah they need a tragic ending” and make the sex scene longer without them noticing). I’m not 100% sure tho if it is really longer ^^ but it is definitely edited differently

I tried to find a DVD of the UK Version that aired on the BBC and apparently it does not exist ??? there are portuguese versions and dutch versions, but i have no idea if those are based on the UK and dubbed or just with subtitles.

anyway, i’m really curious about the actual director’s cut and i have no idea which one it is (maybe the BBC wanted some cuts and it was edited again for its release on DVD in the other countries

  • I keep trying to like red wine like a grown-up but like … it’s rotten grapes, guys. You can drink things that don’t taste like rotten grapes. Why

  • Okay I don’t know when this post is from (I came across it stalking multiple blogs). But in case this might help, here is a brief science/wine lesson.

    To start off, some facts:

-White wine is made from sweet pulp inside of the grape (minus the seeds).

-Red wine is made from both the skin and the grape (and the seeds and stems…sometimes? Can’t remember).

-Tannin is the substance found in red wines, coffee, dark chocolate. Tannins are responsible for the bitter taste in those foods.

-Tannins are found in the skin of the grape, as well as the seeds and the stems. Therefore, most red wines will have tannins, versus most whites will not have tannins.

-Red wines vary in level of tannins, depending on variety of grape, climate, and fermentation process. Pinot noir tends to be very low tannin. Shiraz/Syrah, choice of poison for our beloved brunette surgeon, is very heavy on the tannins.

-Some white wines (most commonly Chardonnay) are aged in oak barrels instead of metal containers. Oak barrels have tannins, which seeps into the wine during the fermentation process. That’s why Chardonnays tend to be “drier” aka it has tannins.

-White wines like Sauvingnon Blancs are usually fermented in steel barrels (aka no tannins. Aka usually very fruity and light and sweet).

Your ability to taste tannins is genetic.

There is a genetic marker determining whether your taste cells are sensitive to tannins.

Basically two people can drink the exact same wine and have wildly different reactions because:
    1. Person A can’t taste tannins, so they taste the actual wine flavor.
    2. Person B can taste tannins, and that tends to overpower ALL the other flavors in the wine. Basically all they taste is tannins and none of the wine.

I am super tannin sensitive, so if I drink a wine like Cabernet Sauvignon (very tannin heavy, aka “very dry”, it tastes like bitter ethanol alcohol to me, whereas my best friend can’t taste tannins so the same wine is maybe a little bitter but they can actually taste the grape and different flavors. To her, a wine like Sauv Blanc is too sweet, tastes like sugar water. But to me it tastes good.

So unless it’s the taste of the alcohol or all wines you hate, chances are you might hate the taste of red wine, especially the heavier red wines, because taste the tannin overpowers everything else. And all you taste is bitter bitter ethanol bitter more ethanol.

    More tannin info:
    -Tannins bind to fat.

-This is why tannin heavy wines are recommended with fatty foods (Shiraz and steak). Whenever you eat food with high fat content, the fat builds up on your tongue. A sip of red wine will bind with the fat on your tongue and clear it away. That’s why the sip of wine between bites of fat heavy foods is considered a palate cleanser.

-By that logic, this is why white wines are recommended with low fat foods, like fish. Salmon is fattier than most fish, which is why Chardonnay (tannin heavy white wine) or Pinot Noir (low tannin red wine) is recommended with salmon.

-People who are sensitive to tannins can drink tannin heavy red wines with fatty food and generally the wine won’t taste gross. The fat on your tongue (from that steak) will bind with the tannin and neutralize the tannin taste. Aka the only time I ever drink Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz is with a steak or heavy, creamy pasta. Aka never bc I don’t often eat either.

-The reason dairy helps coffee taste better is because the fat in milk/creams binds with the tannins in coffee and neutralizes the bitter taste. This is why people who can’t taste tannins can generally drink coffee black without milk (sugar is a different story). It’s also why almond milk in coffee is the worst idea (almond milk is already bitter and has no fat).

    More wine facts:
-90% of the “aromas” of wine are marketing BS

-You know the labels that say like “cherry with a hint of blackberry?” There’s no real way to infuse cherry or blackberry into grape wine without screwing with the fermentation process. It’s all created by the wine marketing industry to sell you win. Sometimes if you smell cherry before you drink the wine, you might taste it in the wine (because majority of flavor comes from smell). Or if you think there is cherry flavor in the wine, your brain can trick your taste buds into tasting it.

-The only true flavors found in real grape wine are grapes (obviously), oak/earthy flavor (the barrels), vanilla (barrels, oak sticks), tannins. (There are a few others but can’t remember. I think maybe cinnamon?).

-People’s perception of wine often affect how good it tastes to them. Social psychology studies show that people will rate the exact same wine differently if they’re told the wines are different in price. (They rated the more expensive wine as tastier).

    tl;dr
Whether you can taste tannins is genetic. Exact same wines taste different for different people depending on your genetic makeup. If you’re sensitive to tannins, red wines won’t taste like anything other than bitter alcohol. Genetics/tannins are why people generally have preferences for red or whites.

  • this is extremely informative and i have learned a thing about myself, which is that i CLEARLY inherited the tannin-tasting genes from my teatotaling mother and not from my dad who subsists entirely on espresso and cabernet sauvignon.

  • who else wants to keep drake the fuck away from millie bobby brown?

  • for starters, just so you have some background, drake is currently dating an 18 year old girl he met when she was 16, he is 31.

also here’s a tweet from drake himself talking about fucking young girls

    image

and noww let’s talk about how he’s preying on Millie.

At the Emmys, when asked about her friendship with him, she said he regularly texts her things like “I miss you” and that they’re very close, also, that they talk about boys/dating advice. He is a 31 year old man and this is a 14 year old girl. He’s talking to her about boys and dating and sending her “I miss you” texts, there’s a word for this. It’s called grooming. (Grooming is when someone builds an emotional connection with a child to gain their trust for the purposes of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation or trafficking. Children and young people can be groomed online or face-to-face, by a stranger or by someone they know - for example a family member, friend or professional.)

    image

He met his current girlfriend at sixteen talked and flirted with her, groomed her like this, and is now in a relationship with her. It is so disgusting to see people claiming this is normal, the industry she is in is highly pedophilic and she’s a child. This is not normal or okay, a 31 year old grown man has no business texting a 14 year old girl like this.

  • I’ve seen a few ppl reblog panicked posts about Article 13. So.

  • Hey hey hey hey hey. Calm down! Yes, it was approved. No, I don’t think it’s a good thing. But there’s some misinformation spreading, so here are a few things, specifically about Article 13:

    1) Fair Use is still a thing. None of the things ppl are saying will become illegal will become illegal.

2.) What the law would mean is that the RESPONSIBILITY for posting material that is in violation of copyright goes from the users to the platforms. That means that if someone reposted my drawing on let’s say Instagram, I could sue Instagram for letting that happen.

3.) This would mean that platforms will have to implement something similar to what Youtube and Twitch are already doing; an algorithm to block/catch copyrighted content.

    4) BUT because Fair Use is still a thing, those algorithms will have to be paired with an appeal system, like the one on YT. Because the algorithms will probably be bad at catching content that isn’t in violation of copyright law, such as parodies etc.

    5) Now, as we’ve seen on Youtube, the algorithms are not good at this fair use thing, and stuff like reviews become targeted by them all the time. This is why I think the law is ultimately going to be doing more harm than good.

    6) NOTHING IS BECOMING ILLEGAL IN TERMS OF CONTENT. PLATFORMS IGNORING COPYRIGHT VIOLATION IS.

    7) If companies give their consent to using, for example, their games in let’s plays etc., it’s still perfectly legal to post those (just like before). Most game companies, like EA has given blanket permission to post about their games online. This includes let’s plays. (Nintendo is like the only one that hasn’t, and only approved creators may post for example Zelda let’s plays, that’s been a thing on YT for ages)

    8) Again, TRANSFORMATIVE WORKS ARE PROTECTED. You can still post those. There’s just probably going to be some extra steps in doing that, because algorithms suck. Like having to make an appeal if your content is transformative etc. this includes memes (if you aren’t just reposting), simblrs, fan art, fanfiction, parodies, reviews, etc.

    9) How this will be handled will ultimately be up to the various platforms. They will choose the option that saves them most money. They don’t want to risk getting sued, so they’ll probably implement an algorithm to catch illegal content. WORST CASE scenario (which is unlikely) is that some platforms decide they don’t want to deal with this law and blocks their services from ppl in the EU. It’s possible, but probably won’t save them money in the long run. So. Algorithms.

THIS WILL NOT AFFECT NON PROFIT SITES (Wikipedia etc.), OPEN SOURCE SITES (Github etc.), NON PROFIT EDUCATIONAL REPOSITORIES, AND CLOUD SERVICES.

ALSO ARTICLE 11 DOES NOT CONCERN INDIVIDUALS. It would mean that news sources would be able to collect licensing fees from social media platforms that allow links from news sources, IF THE LINK INCLUDES A PREVIEW (like most sites include now) OR THE TITLE OF THE ARTICLE ETC. The law does not mean that individuals have to pay news sources to post links.

Again, it’s not a good idea in my opinion, but we’re not disappearing and Fair Use is still a thing. Simblr isn’t illegal. We’re okay.

  • every year after you turn 17 you get further away from being the age of the dancing queen and that’s my least favorite thing about growing up

  • exCUSE ME.  DOES THIS LOOK LIKE THE FACE OF A WOMAN WHO’S CONCERNED ABOUT BEING TOO OLD TO BE THE DANCING QUEEN??

    image
    image

Fuck your age, put on your high heeled boots and a pair of overalls and do Meryl Streep proud.

    You are the dancing queen.

  • Hot take: Seventeen is the age at which you get crowned the Dancing Queen.

Being older than that isn’t years away from being the Dancing Queen, it’s how many years your reign has lasted.

  • theory: “mamma mia!” (2008) and “kingsman: the secret service” (2014) take place in the same universe

    my evidence?

    colin firth.

in “mamma mia!”, which is arguably set in the 90s, he plays:

    • an englishman named harry
    • whose last name is not known
    • who demonstrates an affinity for aliases (”harry headbanger”)
    • who lives in london
    • who works as a banker which sounds fake
    • isn’t “spontaneous”
    • is gay

in “kingsman: the secret service,” where the main story is arguably set in 2014, he plays:

    • an englishman named harry
    • whose last name is now revealed to be hart
    • who demonstrates a penchant for aliases (”galahad”)
    • who lives in london
    • who is actually a secret agent…which he has to lie about and tell people he’s some boring job like a banker
    • can’t afford to be spontaneous bc he’s a secret agent and if he doesn’t plan things out he will probably die
    • tells a random woman that he’s gay (among other things) (he’s implied to be lying but literally nothing in the film indicates that anything in the line where he says that is not true)

CONCLUSION: Harry from “Mamma Mia!” and Harry from “Kingsman: The Secret Service” are the same person. The opening scene (before it jumps to “17 years later”) of Kingsman takes place, at most, a few years apart from the events of “Mamma Mia!” Also, Harry Hart is gay. Thank you for your time.

  • If that’s true, why wasn’t Kingsman a musical? Everyone sings in the Mama Mia world?

  • Kingsman fights = wordless dance sequences.

  • Y'all know Jim parsons left the big bang theory cuz its toxic right??

Y'all know he os a gay man with moneywho is actually a really cool dude in rl??

Why all this “sorry gay/bi ppl gotta deal with this” from the straights??

Fuck you straight people, I am excited to see where this goes

  • Yea outside of TBBT he’s been a huge queer advocate, and shuts down homophobic bullshit. Like for example when Love, Simon came out and everyone was like “don’t we have enough of this/isn’t it too late for this?” He was like “do you people say that about every straight rom com that comes out??”

Plus his work outside of TBBT has mostly BEEN queer shit, including being in a movie about how shit the government was in regards to the AIDS crisis.

TBBT was his big break, he was a nobody before it. And unfortunately he got stuck with it for a while. Although he wasn’t afraid to use his newfound fame for a good purpose. And now that he’s free of it? We’re only gonna see more of his queer activism side.

Don’t forget that he’s an actor, not the character jfc. A gay guy trying to get a break signs a contract and gets stuck with a show, playing a shitty character….. Like. That’s not…. Don’t hate him for his first big role, yea?
